This study is being conducted by Dr. Sam Liu, Department of Exercise Science, Physical & Health Education at the University of Victoria and Dr. Ulrich Mueller, Department of Psychology at the University of Victoria.

What is the purpose of the study?
Our research assesses whether a school’s cellphone policy affects students’ use of electronic devices, their leisure activity, sleep, friendship, attention and grades.
Who can join this study?
You are asked to join this study because you are a middle or high school student. Your participation in this research study is voluntary.
What do I have to do if I join this study?
You will be given an online questionnaire that assesses these aspects of your life.
The responses provided by you will be treated as anonymous and confidential. All data will be securely stored and only the researchers and their research assistants will have access to the data collected. The researcher will keep the data indefinitely for future research.
The questionnaires will take about 15-25 minutes to complete.
You will need to discuss this study with your parents/guardians and make sure that they give you permission to do the survey and enter the gift card draw.
What will the researchers do with the study results?
It is anticipated that the results of this study will be shared with others in the following ways: a summary of the results of this study will be made available to all interested participants. The results may also be published in academic journals or books, on the Internet, or through classroom or conference presentations.
